I know you guys are back for your loooong holiday! I hope you all arrived in your hometown in one piece and return in one piece :) It is the best time to be with family and friends. I hate to spoil your mood....but what to do! Your study comes first right?
This week we looked at technical description and we did some mind-boggling activity. It was interesting yet complicated. So in order to make you understand about technical description clearly, I would like you to read an article on any product and share what you have read here. What you can comment on is:
i. the type of language used to describe the product
ii. the way the writer organizes the article (i.e first he talks about the cord, then the body and then the functions etc.)
Please indicate where you got the article from. If it is online, give me the url. PLEASE do not copy and paste the article into this blog. And remember when you return from your break you are going to present what we have discussed earlier...also don't forget the outline that should come with the presentation!

ReplyDeleteThe language used was of course sharp and clear. By not using too many complicated terms than commoners wouldn't understand, the writer aims to portray his points as simple as it can be, without losing important details.
The organization was good as well. Besides having sub-titles to explain many information regarding the product, the author seperates each model using a table for easy comparison.
A compact list of overview of the system is also available in the right panel for readers who do not wish to read the full article.

I say, "before i continue on the question asked by Guru, let me first tell you what is the article about. It is actually an overview of a full-touch smart phone, from HTC. It is known as HTC-Magic. The one and only smart phones available on market today with an Android Operating System(OS) inside.
Android is an OS developed to run in a Linux kernel, an operating system kernel used by the Linux family of Unix-like operating systems. Just like the well-known windows operating system such as Windows Mobile for smart phones and Windows 95, 98, 2000, Xp, Vista and the new-released Windows 7.
Okay, for the 1st question.. The language used.. Hm.. The language used is a simple English with only a few of modern technological terms such as "synchronization, powerhouse, and etc..."
Then, we'll proceed to the 2nd one, how the writer organizes the article. hmm.. They start with a simple introduction of HTC-Magic. Then they proceed with the Google services provided in it such as Google Search, Google Maps, Google Talks and even Youtube. After that, they continue on highlighting the simple and versatile User Interface(UI) of the on-screen keyboard. The next is about the connection, mainly regarding of the mail synchronizations, and setups. The last content in the overview is about the Android Market, a site where users can easily find any Android OS application available there ad easily install it on their HTC-Magic.
